Outside of her job, she is a textile designer who combines a love of drawing, painting and screen printing to create designs of an gestural nature. She uses diverse media and drawing techniques to create unique motifs and shapes which retain their hand-rendered finish from initial drawing right through to the final print. Mark making and creating distinctive textural qualities is at the heart of her practice.
Encompassing a wide variety of subject matter, the quality which ties them together is the love for experimentation, meaning her practice is intuitive by nature – learning while doing and communicating her passion for process is part of what makes her work unique.
An open-minded designer, she applies her skills to a wide variety of contexts from fashion to interiors – embracing the challenges of experimentation, research and process for each market is part of what distinguishes her work.
Connecting to the research is vital to the success of her projects, which flourish when she utilises first-hand experiences, and so locality is also often a recurring feature. Natural influences play a big part in her practice, as they harmonise well with her gestural way of working, in particular ‘living’ subjects like plants, people and places.
With a strong eye for colour, she can successfully translate trends and ideas into a diverse range of prints, with exploration of conversational designs alongside expressive florals and nature-inspired prints, epitomising her versatility and enthusiasm for print design which exudes fun and vitality.
